Janitzio has several meaning, among them: " Place where it rains ", " Hair of elote ", and "Place of Fishing ". Colorful place located in the central part of the lake of Pátzcuaro. The indigenous community of the pueblito has conserved the authenticity of its customs, like the language purépecha, clothes and the velación at night of deads, ceremony that each november 1st and 2nd attracts visitors worldwide. In the top, a monument 40 meters high was elevated in memory of Generalissimo Don Jose Maria Morelos and Pavón. In the interior the painter Ramon Alva de la Canal printed the life of the hero.
